About The Position

The Autism Specialist provides developmental and educational services to children and adolescents with autism in a clinical setting or the home environment. Designs individualized programs for children and adolescents with autism to increase and develop social, communication, and behavioral skills. Provides services within the assigned treatment setting - clinical setting or the client’s home. Homebased treatment assignments require access to reliable transportation. Designs specialized programs and teaching procedures for individual or small groups of clients to develop academic knowledge and ability through the application of behavioral techniques and procedures. Charts the progress of assigned clients through weekly progress notes to ensure the ongoing evaluation of each client's strengths and opportunities. Monitors progress notes and related data to ensure the proper implementation of individualized behavior change programs. Reviews current research on autism, understands behavioral modification theories and applies appropriate techniques. Completes various administrative tasks and meets deadlines for submission to ensure timely and accurate data collection for electronic health record systems.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Three months of experience as an Autism Assistant or six months of direct client care experience
  • CPR certification
  • Valley de-escalation certification
  • Driving positions require a minimum age of 21 and a current driver’s license

  • Two years of experience working with individuals with autism
