Autism Paraprofessional - Extensive Support Needs
About The Position
The Creekside School is a specialized, nonpublic school serving students on the autism spectrum with extensive behavioral, communication, and support needs. Our team is dedicated to creating a structured, compassionate, and highly individualized learning environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. We are seeking dedicated, patient, and resilient Autism Paraprofessionals to join our educational team. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting students with autism and developmental disabilities while working alongside experienced educators, behavior specialists, and related service providers.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to meet physical demands of the position, including standing, walking, lifting, and supporting students throughout the day
Nice To Haves
- Associate degree or Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Experience working with individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, or behavioral support needs preferred
- Experience in educational, behavioral health, childcare, or human services settings is highly desirable
Responsibilities
- Supporting students in classroom, community-based, and campus activities
- Assisting with the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
- Utilizing evidence-based behavioral and instructional strategies
- Collecting behavioral and academic data as directed
- Supporting communication, social-emotional growth, and independent living skills
- Assisting students with daily routines and personal care needs when necessary
- Maintaining a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment
- Collaborating closely with Teachers, Behavior Specialists, BCBAs, Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and other multidisciplinary team members
- Participating in ongoing training and professional development
