Requirements

High school graduate or GED
Minimum of one (1) year of experience in health care billing and/or authorization practices
General knowledge of the framework, organization, and function of home care
Sound knowledge of health care operations and third-party reimburesment
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Exploreer) with the ability to learn industry specific software applications
Solid organizational skills, throughness, and a keen attention to detail with the ability to multi- task while prioritizing effectively
Ability to work independently and in a team enivronment
Excellent, oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Professional appearance and demeanor

Responsibilities

Responsible for obtaining and tracking authorization for all patients for whom their insurance requires pre-authorization.
This position requires multi-tasking, computer skills, good oral and written communication and customer service etiquette.
Function as a part of the team and keep everyone apprised of the authorization situation.
Responsible for Agency’s ability to bill and be paid for visits made by the field staff.
Answer telephones and provide excellent customer service to our professional staff and insurance representatives.
Run and utilize computer reports regularly.
Provide accurate, complete updates to Agency management on status of authorizations for all patients requiring treatment authorization.
Obtain and track authorization for all patients for whom their insurance requires pre-authorization.
Clearly document all authorization requests.
Communicate with multiple disciplines.
Notify Supervisor of problems in a timely manner and works to help provide solutions.
Other duties as assigned.
