Role Summary
Verify patient insurance benefits accurately and in advance of scheduled visits across Commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid payers.
Obtain and manage prior authorizations for physical therapy services, ensuring approvals are secured within required payer timelines.
Monitor authorization status across all active patients; proactively follow up on pending requests to prevent gaps or delays in care.
Communicate benefit and authorization details clearly and efficiently to clinic staff and patient care coordinators to support seamless scheduling.
Maintain thorough, accurate documentation within internal systems to support clean claim submission and reduce denials.
Manage a high daily volume of verifications and authorizations while consistently meeting established turnaround time expectations.
Collaborate with the billing team to identify and resolve eligibility and authorization issues upstream of claim submission.

Requirements

• 1+ years of experience verifying physical therapy insurance benefits for Commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid payers
• 1+ years of experience obtaining authorizations for physical therapy services across Commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid payers
• Strong computer skills; ability to efficiently navigate multiple payer portals and internal systems simultaneously
• High attention to detail with the ability to manage large daily volume without sacrificing accuracy
• Clear, professional communication with clinical and administrative team members

Nice To Haves

• Multi-state insurance experience
• Experience using WebPT, Prompt, Athelas, or a comparable PT-specific EMR/RCM platform
• Familiarity with physical therapy CPT codes and payer-specific authorization documentation requirements
