Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED equivalent required
  • A minimum of 3 years of insurance and authorization experience
  • Must be a fast, accurate typist and demonstrate skill in Microsoft Office products
  • Candidates should have exceptional people and communication skills, be highly skilled in multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment, a commitment to achieving a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, and a no-task-too-small approach to the work.
  • Knowledge of business office principles and procedures
  • Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation to prepare product from rough drafts, review and edit reports and correspondence
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic to make calculations, balance and reconcile figures and make changes accurately
  • Skill in operating various types of office equipment
  • Skill in using Microsoft Office products
  • Skills in time management and organization
  • Ability to effectively interact with physicians, Board Members, ancillary staff, clients, vendors, etc.
  • Ability to type fast and accurately
  • Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instruction
  • Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, physicians, and the public
  • Ability to create and edit documents, be multi-task oriented, exercise independent judgment and prioritize projects

Nice To Haves

  • AA in business administration or related preferred
  • Epic and NextGen experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Research and process authorization requests.
  • Verify eligibility and benefits for patients.
  • Perform "stat" coordinator duties as requested.
  • Assist medical assistants with rounds as needed.
  • Monitor incoming calls, answer, and screen, as necessary.
  • Check patients in as needed
  • Inquire about any new patient information (change of address, telephone, new insurance, etc.).
  • Scan new insurance card.
  • Help patient complete necessary forms.
  • Input new information into computer.
  • Receives and post payments and co-pays from patients and issues receipts as required.
  • Runs reports as required to balance charges and payments.
  • Prepares deposit for the day if required.
  • Create and update Excel spreadsheets as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Attend meetings as required.
