About The Position

Our mission... To equitably protect and empower consumers and workers while maintaining a predictable yet innovative regulatory environment for the businesses we regulate. The Department of Consumer and Business Services (DCBS) is a progressive business regulatory state agency dedicated to the mission of protecting and serving Oregon's consumers and workers while supporting a positive business climate. The department administers state laws and rules governing workers' compensation, occupational safety and health, financial institutions, insurance companies and building codes. The department has consumer protection and education programs, offices, and ombuds to help consumers, injured workers, and businesses. This position is with the Workers' Compensation Division (WCD). WCD administers, regulates, and enforces the laws and administrative rules governing the Oregon workers' compensation system. This position is represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).

Requirements

  • Four years of experience doing administrative research that included compiling and evaluating facts to recommend management action, or decide compliance with program guidelines and regulations.
  • Two of the four years must be above the technical support level.
  • College-level coursework may substitute for experience on the basis of 45-quarter units per year, up to a maximum of three years.
  • Working collaboratively with peers, customers, and stakeholders.
  • Effectively communicating in a variety of settings, including presenting technical information.
  • Commitment to maintaining positive working relationships, respectful workplace practices, and supporting a diverse and inclusive work environment.
  • Interpreting, applying, and enforcing laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Flexibility adapting to changing work environments and assignments.
  • Experience using a variety of computer programs and software.
  • Experience using Excel spreadsheets.
  • A resume and cover letter are required.
  • The successful candidate must have a valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
  • This position is subject to a fingerprint background check for any convictions directly related to its duties and responsibilities.
  • Must complete the US Department of Homeland Security's I-9 form confirming authorization to work in the United States within three days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, evaluate, lead, and perform multiple and diverse performance audit programs to monitor and regulate the workers' compensation industry, and ensure public funds are disbursed properly by reviewing payroll and financial records.
  • Conduct on-site and virtual remote audits, ranging from simple to complex, at claims processing locations.
  • Act as a resource to the workers' compensation industry, providing training and consultation relating to workers' compensation issues.
