About The Position

The BNSF Railway Compliance and Audit Department ensures adherence to best practices in corporate governance, risk management, and internal controls, fostering trust and alignment with business partners. Committed to ethics and integrity, this team plays a vital role in maintaining BNSF's high standards. Their efforts are essential in upholding the company's reputation and operational excellence. This is a full-time position located in Fort Worth, TX. For certain positions, including this one, employees can work one day per week remotely. Our leaders also foster a culture where work life balance, which requires flexibility for when life happens, is important and respected. Travel is none to minmal.

Requirements

  • Able to work now and in the future without BNSF’s assistance (whether monetary, through sponsorship, or otherwise) in obtaining, maintaining, or extending employment authorization (including H-1B, STEM OPT/CPT, or TN nonimmigrant status).
  • Bachelor’s degree (Accounting, Finance, Information Technology or Data Analytics preferred).
  • Entry to 2 years of audit, finance, IT or related business experience.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, document work performed, analyze data and observations, evaluate processes, and make suggestions / recommendations for improvement.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of audit standards and methodologies, generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), railroad operations
  • CPA, CISA or CIA certification
  • Knowledge of analytical techniques, programming, or system query techniques (Data Warehouse, SAS, TeamMate, Tableau, MS Access, SQL)

Responsibilities

  • Manage work assignments and timeliness.
  • Develop detailed test procedures that address audit objectives and significant risks.
  • Interpret and evaluate audit evidence.
  • Document work performed with logical conclusions and the appropriate audit evidence and support.
  • Present audit results, both in written and verbal formats.
  • Track issues raised and ensure action plans are implemented.
