About The Position

The Public Safety Personnel Retirement System (PSPRS) is seeking talented individuals to join their diverse and inclusive team. The Auditor 3 position reports to the Chief Internal Auditor and performs complex audits, examining records, reports, financial statements, and business systems. This role involves performing internal audits, as well as local board and employer audits, with limited supervision. The position may offer the ability to work remotely within Arizona, contingent on business needs and performance.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of professional auditing standards and auditing processes and techniques.
  • Knowledge of computer technology principles, terminology, and programming.
  • Knowledge of Federal regulations, Arizona revised statutes, applicable PSPRS policies and procedures.
  • Skill in initiative, critical thinking, professional skepticism, objectivity and sound judgment.
  • Skill in effective communication.
  • Skill in ensuring working papers and reports meet all required professional standards and PSPRS policies and procedures.
  • Skill in accurately analyzing and interpreting data.
  • Skill in demonstrating professionalism and building trust with individuals involved in audits being conducted.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Ability to solicit, receive, analyze and use information provided by others.
  • Ability to develop familiarity with PSPRS operations, structure and systems.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with PSPRS staff at all levels and with PSPRS stakeholders.
  • Possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver's license.
  • Must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize and conduct complex and/or sensitive audits as assigned with varying scopes to include multidisciplinary or multi-functional areas.
  • Develop audit scopes, objectives and procedures in accordance with auditing standards.
  • Collect, analyze and reach sound conclusions from interviews, records, data, observations and other audit procedures.
  • Prepare concise, comprehensive, well-organized working papers to accurately and effectively communicate audit work, conclusions and recommendations.
  • Prepare clear and concise audit reports, including outlines, draft and final reports.
  • Communicate effectively to obtain information and assist audited entities and/or individuals in understanding audit results and recommendations.
  • Present audit results and recommendations to auditees and other stakeholders as required.
  • Manage and track time to plan, organize and complete assigned audits efficiently withing allotted timeframes.
  • Drive to other locations to conduct audits and for training as required.
