About The Position

Mahoney is seeking an Audit Manager to join their Assurance Solutions Team. This team helps clients stay compliant, avoid surprises, and strengthens their financial reporting through targeted improvements. They perform a wide range of specialized audits, including HUD audits, employee benefit plans, and single audits. Mahoney has been recognized multiple times as a top workplace and provides comprehensive audit, tax, and consulting services. The Audit Manager will be responsible for planning and managing client engagements, leveraging technical expertise to interpret financial data, and navigating technical challenges. This role requires advanced Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis, report creation, and process automation. The manager will also mentor team members, assist in proposal development, build client relationships, and communicate effectively with staff, leadership, and clients. Additional work hours are required from January through April 15th.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to perform the core duties outlined above
  • Bachelor's or Masters degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA license
  • Background in public accounting or a client-focused environment
  • Master of advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities (e.g. advanced pivot tables and pivot charts, data modeling, dynamic arrays, lookup functions, logical formulas, and aggregation formulas)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Real Estate clients and/or nonprofit organizations
  • Prior experience with Engagement Manager and CCH Axcess

Responsibilities

  • Chart the course for each client journey as an Assurance Manager.
  • Leverage technical expertise to interpret complex financial data, anticipate reporting needs, and navigate technical challenges with confidence.
  • Analyze large data sets, create financial reports, and build automated processes that streamline data entry, report generation, and analysis using advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities.
  • Refine the skills of other team members, helping them enhance their technical abilities and product high-quality work.
  • Assist in proposal development and work across departments to shape solutions that align with client goals.
  • Serve as a supervisor and mentor, evaluating performance, offering meaningful feedback, and helping staff grow.
  • Build and nurture client partnerships, identifying client needs and uncovering opportunities to expand the firm's value.
  • Deliver clear, compelling messages in client meetings and inter-firm gatherings to deepen understanding and connections.
  • Communicate with purpose, moving between conversations with staff, leadership, and clients to ensure alignment and informed status.
