Reporting to the DNNP EHS Director, the EHS Audit Advisor is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) audits across business operations to evaluate compliance with regulatory requirements, corporate standards, and industry best practices. The role provides subject matter expertise, identifies risks and opportunities for improvement, supports corrective action implementation, and promotes a culture of continuous improvement in EHS performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5–10 years of progressive experience in Environmental, Health and Safety, compliance, auditing, or risk management.
  • Experience conducting EHS compliance audits and management system assessments.
  • Knowledge of environmental and occupational health and safety legislation and regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong knowledge of EHS regulations, management systems, and auditing principles.
  • Excellent analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to identify risks and recommend practical, business-focused solutions.
  • Strong report writing, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to influence and build relationships with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and audit management systems.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certifications such as CRSP, CRST, CHSC, CSP, CIH, ISO 14001 Lead Auditor, or ISO 45001 Lead Auditor are considered an asset.
  • Experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems preferred.
  • Experience working across multiple sites or operational environments is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and conduct EHS compliance, management system, and operational audits across multiple sites and business units.
  • Develop and maintain audit protocols, checklists, and methodologies aligned with regulatory and corporate requirements.
  • Lead audit activities, including pre-audit planning, field assessments, document reviews, interviews, and closing meetings.
  • Evaluate EHS management systems against applicable standards, policies, and legal requirements.
  • Monitor audit program effectiveness and recommend improvements to audit processes and tools.
  • Assess compliance with environmental, occupational health and safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify EHS risks, non-conformances, and areas requiring corrective or preventive action.
  • Analyze findings and determine root causes of recurring issues or systemic gaps.
  • Support risk mitigation strategies and ensure appropriate controls are implemented.
  • Monitor emerging regulatory trends and communicate impacts to stakeholders.
  • Prepare comprehensive audit reports outlining findings, recommendations, and risk ratings.
  • Track corrective action plans to ensure timely completion and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with operational leaders to develop sustainable solutions to identified EHS issues.
  • Verify closure and effectiveness of corrective actions through follow-up assessments.
  • Identify trends across audits and provide recommendations to improve organizational EHS performance.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to business leaders on EHS compliance and audit-related matters.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to site leadership teams on regulatory and corporate requirements.
  • Support EHS program development, implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Facilitate communication of audit results and best practices across the organization.
  • Promote a positive safety culture through education, engagement, and collaboration.
  • Maintain accurate audit documentation and records.
  • Develop and present audit metrics, dashboards, and trend analyses.
  • Prepare reports for senior leadership outlining compliance status, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Support management reviews and regulatory inspections as required.
