About The Position

A well-established and highly respected public accounting firm is seeking a Staff or Senior-level Audit & Client Accounting Associate with experience serving nonprofit organizations. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys working closely with mission-driven organizations and wants a blend of audit and client accounting responsibilities in a collaborative, small-firm environment. Position Overview This role will focus primarily on nonprofit audit engagements while also supporting client accounting and bookkeeping functions for nonprofit clients. The firm offers a stable client base, strong leadership, and a hybrid work environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • 1–5+ years of experience in public accounting
  • Direct experience auditing nonprofit organizations (required)
  • Experience with client accounting/bookkeeping in a public accounting setting
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online
  • CPA or CPA track preferred but not required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with UltraTax is a plus (this is not a tax-focused role)

Responsibilities

  • Perform audit procedures for nonprofit organizations
  • Assist with planning and execution of audit engagements
  • Prepare audit workpapers and supporting documentation
  • Communicate with clients regarding financial reporting and audit findings
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards
  • Perform bookkeeping and general ledger maintenance for nonprofit clients
  • Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
  • Reconcile bank and balance sheet accounts
  • Support clients with financial reporting and accounting questions
