About The Position

Benesch is seeking an Audit Attorney for its Cleveland office. This hybrid position offers work-from-home flexibility and is ideal for a licensed attorney with corporate experience, specifically in responding to auditor requests. The role focuses on administrative tasks and managing the firm's audit process, playing a critical part in responding to client auditor requests. Responsibilities include reviewing financial records, legal documents, and compliance reports, and collaborating with firm attorneys to provide timely and accurate responses while maintaining client confidentiality and attorney-client privilege. The position utilizes tools such as iManage, InTapp, and Excel.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of corporate experience, inclusive of responding to requests from auditors.
  • A J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • An active license in Illinois, New York or Ohio.
  • Strong familiarity with the audit process from start to finish.
  • Proficient in using iManage, InTapp, or similar programs, and MS Office.
  • Skilled at clearly articulating complex legal matters and issues and understanding the underlying principles in responding to clients' requests for information for their auditors.
  • Professional demeanor with outstanding interpersonal and client service skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
  • Effective task prioritization.

Responsibilities

  • Review audit requests, determine billing, review timekeepers' records, and gather necessary documents including legal files, corporate records, SEC filings, etc., to complete audits.
  • Communicate with accountants, clients, the Firm's Audit Committee, the Firm's General Counsel's office, billing and/or timekeepers regarding the specifics of an audit response.
  • Use iManage, InTapp, and other Firm software, create Audit Request Forms and notations while working with various departments, legal assistants, paralegals, etc. for information, and monitor responses for corrections and testing.
  • Monitor timekeeper responses, revise content as needed and obtain clarification or additional information as needed.
  • Draft and revise audit letters to comply with the Firm's risk/audit letter policies and procedures.
  • Work with the relationship and/or reviewing attorneys to review drafts and make necessary revisions and finalize and send audit responses.
  • Assist with other matters as requested by the Firm's Corporate and Securities Practice Group.
