We are seeking a motivated Audit Associate to join our Public Sector practice in our Voorhees, NJ office. This role will focus on assisting with audit engagements for government entities, including municipalities, school districts, and public authorities. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, and a desire to develop technical expertise in governmental accounting and auditing. The Audit Associate will work closely with Senior Associates, Supervisors, Managers, and Partners to support the completion of audit engagements while delivering high-quality client service and gaining exposure to governmental accounting and compliance requirements.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work in the office a minimum of 3 days per week.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university required.
  • 1+ years of audit experience in public accounting required.
  • Basic knowledge of GAAP and auditing principles.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be willing and able to travel locally to client locations as needed.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA eligibility or progress toward CPA licensure preferred.
  • Governmental audit experience is preferred.
  • Interest in governmental accounting and auditing, including municipalities, school districts, and public authorities.
  • experience with audit software (e.g., Engagement, Caseware, or similar) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with audit engagements for government entities, including municipalities, school districts, and public authorities.
  • Prepare audit workpapers, schedules, confirmations, and supporting documentation in accordance with firm and professional standards.
  • Perform audit testing and procedures under the supervision of senior team members.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and related reports.
  • Develop an understanding of applicable auditing standards, including GAAS, GASB, Yellow Book, and Single Audit requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with engagement team members and client personnel to obtain information and resolve questions.
  • Maintain organized and accurate workpapers and meet engagement deadlines.
  • Participate in client fieldwork assignments and attend client meetings as needed.
  • Collaborate with team members and contribute to a positive and professional team environment.
  • Continue developing technical accounting and auditing knowledge through on-the-job experience and training opportunities.
