About The Position

Step into a dynamic role as a Government Audit Associate at Abdo, where you'll engage in a variety of professional auditing tasks that are essential to ensuring the integrity of financial data for our local government clients, including: cities, counties, and school districts. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Plans to pursue, or already pursuing CPA certification (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Build on knowledge acquired in college to gain a functional level of technical and operational knowledge to proficiently perform assigned tasks
  • Prepare and self-review workpapers in conformity with standards including scope/objective/procedure/conclusion, adequate supporting documentation, and Tickmark and workpaper cross references
  • Communicate with clients on-site, by phone, or e-mail to obtain accurate information and relevant supporting documentation to support workpaper conclusions
  • Draft, foot, and proof audit reports, financial statements, and other engagement documents
  • Compile and import trial balance information from client software programs into Abdo software
  • Perform analytical and detailed work with numerical data efficiently and accurately
  • Utilize and develop a functional understanding of firm software and internal workflow/procedures to manage binder documentation and maintain client information
  • Exercise discretion and judgment when working with confidential client matters
  • Accurately report and release billable and non-billable time consistently and understand its importance
  • Meet productivity standards; Utilize research skills using resources such as Thomson Reuters Checkpoint
  • Provide assistance and train other team members, as needed
  • Actively utilize firm-approved technology and AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency, accuracy, and quality of work while exercising appropriate professional judgment and maintaining compliance with firm policies, confidentiality standards, and professional regulations
