About The Position

Delivers at a high level of competency in assisting management through analysis, recommendations, and counsel. The Internal Auditor conducts, independent, objective examinations of processes and/or procedures to ensure internal controls are in place to safeguard assets, maintain the integrity of the financial records, ensure the economical and efficient use of resources, and provide assurance of compliance with applicable policies, laws and regulations. Responsibilities require understanding of both theory and practice.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration/Management or a business-related field plus an additional two (2) years related experience, or equivalent for a total education/experience of six (6) years. (PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED).
  • Degree Equivalency Formula: Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience. Master’s Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master’s degrees are required, years for Bachelor’s Degrees must be included.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts school, support, functional, and special audits as assigned; establishes the scope and objective of the audits and develops audit questionnaires, programs, and work papers
  • Serves as liaison between the audit staff, management and the auditee during the audit process
  • Reviews, examines, and evaluates audit information
  • Communicates findings to auditee and management both orally and in a formal written report and evaluates management responses to audit findings
  • Provides follow-up support with fraud hotline alerts as assigned
  • Travels to all District schools and work sites
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
