About The Position
The Audiovisual Tech supports audiovisual operations for meetings and exhibits, including equipment loading and unloading, setup, and strike. Depending on specialty and assignment, the role may provide general AV support or assist with audio, lighting, or video systems. Audio duties may include assisting the A1 with setup, show operation, and strike; lighting duties may include placing lighting elements, building truss, focusing systems, and operating spotlights. Video assignments may include assisting the V1 or other video specialists with equipment setup and strike, cable work, camera builds, and camera shading. Requirements
- A fair knowledge of audio, lighting, and video for general AV technician assignments.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload trucks and set up and strike audiovisual equipment.
- Set up meeting rooms and exhibits, drawing on knowledge of audio, lighting, and video.
- Assist the A1 with audio setup, show operation, and strike.
- Run cables; rig audio systems; support front-of-house and monitor control, backline, and stage lines; and manage wireless-microphone frequencies as assigned by the A1.
- Place lighting elements, build truss, and assist with focusing the lighting system; operate spotlights during shows when needed.
- Direct construction, wiring, and timing of video systems when assigned as V1.
- Color-match and shade cameras, and route video signals to recording bays, projection, and other destinations when assigned as V1.
- Assist the V1, projectionist, or tape operator with video equipment setup and strike, cable running and labeling, camera builds, and related activities.
- Assist with camera shading during show operation when assigned as V2.
