About The Position

Empower AI is seeking an Audiovisual (AV) installation lead/supervisor to lead installation and implementation efforts, communication, and Quality Control (QC) support at multiple government sites for a wide variety of AV and Information Technology (IT) systems. Sites may include VTC/huddle rooms, conference rooms, briefing rooms, operations centers, command centers, central AV equipment rooms (AVERs), data and voice premise, Inside Plant (ISP), and Outside Plant (OSP) implementations for various customers in support of the C4IT Infrastructure Modernization Services Group. This role is critical to meeting EMPOWER AI's mission: To deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions and services that enable our customers to rapidly adapt to dynamic environments.

Requirements

  • Current AVIXA CTS and CTS-I
  • Current/active Secret clearance
  • BA/BS Degree
  • Seven (7) years’ experience providing or supporting installation, maintenance, or administration of AV/IT system environments, with two (2) years’ experience as an installation lead/supervisor
  • Ability to read and understand architectural and engineering drawings
  • Furnish and maintain personal set of basic installation and test tools
  • Experience reviewing and providing input to Engineering Implementation Packages
  • Familiarity with applicable ANSI/InfoComm, AVIXA, and EIA/TIA standards
  • Familiarity with work on an active construction site
  • Familiarity with installation and test work in secure facilities
  • Proficient in testing equipment/systems and following written test procedures
  • Knowledge of using hand tools, basic power tools, test/set up equipment and company machinery. Ability to train others in use.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical circuitry, network principles, NEC, ADA, safety, and fire codes.
  • Read/understand technical drawings, programming, and installation guides.
  • Advanced knowledge of various low voltage systems.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with clients, management and peers. Ability to make presentations to management, clients, others as directed.
  • Advanced computer skills and software knowledge to include MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), company software and job required software/programs.
  • Develop goals, prioritize and organize tasks to accomplish the project.
  • Anticipate and resolve problem/changes; seek assistance and escalate as required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional customer interface and communication to internal and external customers
  • Working independently with minimal supervision, lead technical installation teams comprising employees and/or subcontractors; Set performance standards and daily taskings.
  • Apply a thorough understanding of building construction and the AV installation environment
  • Provide expert consultation in the organizing of AV installation activities on site
  • Support efforts in the translation of business requirements into AV/IT requirements.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to AV designs specifically relating to recommended (best practice) installation means and methods; assess required materials, quantities, tools, and expendables, assist in estimation installation labor requirements and schedules
  • Understand and follow Engineering Implementation Package (EIP) and other site related documents, instructions, drawings, schedules, lists, tables, and data; maintain redline drawings
  • Manage construction coordination and communication through appropriate paperwork
  • Mount, install, connect, adjust, align, integrate, configure, test and troubleshoot AV/IT equipment
  • Coordinate with engineering team and manufacturer support to resolve installation questions; make recommendations, assess impact, be flexible, use judgement, escalate as required
  • Learn independently; read product manuals, study online, attend training, or contact product support; retain and convey the information, e.g. take notes, archive the training, etc.
  • Be professional, reliable, trustworthy, courteous, respectful, and team-focused, even under stress
  • Witness cable testing and review test results
  • Maintain a situational awareness of all assigned sites and project detail
  • Review and follow site coordination, installation schedules, milestones, and task list
  • Review and document configuration changes for assigned install locations
  • Provide comprehensive QC and Installation reports
  • Implement grounding/bonding of electronics, racks, cabinets, and enclosures
  • Install (in walls, ceilings, floors, conduit, or cable tray), terminate, label, and test fiber-optic, CAT5/6 UTP/STP, and other low-voltage AV cable; recognize plenum spaces
  • Test and troubleshoot installed AV/IT systems; prepare for and execute System Acceptance Test
  • Prepare test reports and other contract deliverables
  • Maintain, install, move, and remove cables and ancillary equipment
  • Manage site security, inventory, cleanliness
  • Assess need for specialized site tools or equipment, make recommendation to management
  • Coordinate with and work alongside other construction trades, (e.g.Structure, framing, flooring, ceiling, carpentry; Electrical, telecom, and security; HVAC)
