Audiovisual Infrastructure Engineer

AirbnbSan Francisco, CA
Onsite

About The Position

Our team builds, operates and maintains Airbnb’s global video production and large-scale audiovisual infrastructure in our event spaces, collaboration hubs and large specialty conference rooms at offices around the world. We work closely with the Infrastructure builds team, the live production crew and the office of the CEO to deliver highly functional and reliable AV infrastructure. This role involves hands-on experience in overseeing design, build, commissioning, and maintenance phases of 30-100 person multipurpose spaces, boardrooms and large conference room AV systems in concert with external AV consultants and AV integrators. It also includes R&D of new technologies, and innovative designs, to use in these systems, build and test proofs of concept, with research into AI technologies. You will work closely with our IT builds project management team throughout the design and build phases and assist in the design and operation of broadcast-grade AV infrastructure for large-scale event spaces supporting audiences of 100–1,000 people. No two days look the same. One morning you might be in our lab, hands-on with the latest equipment, running proof-of-concept tests to see what's worth bringing into our ecosystem. By afternoon, you could be deep in a broadcast studio commission, making sure every system fires exactly the way it should. Some weeks take you further afield — hopping a flight to one of our global offices to work alongside local AV integrators, walking a brand-new gathering space through commissioning and testing until it meets the standard you designed it to. Other days are all about the people: syncing with cross-functional partners, aligning on what's next, and making sure AV is never an afterthought. Variety isn't a perk here — it's the job.
