About The Position

Under the supervision of the Senior Director, Operations, or designee, the Audiovisual (AV) Specialist supports the setup, operation, and troubleshooting of audiovisual technologies used for meetings, presentations, training sessions, live events, and hybrid broadcasts. This role helps deliver high-quality audio, video, and streaming services; provides excellent customer support; and supports general IT operations as needed. This is a part-time role at 20 hours per week. This position is located in Washington D.C. and Meridian requires MD, DC, or VA residence for all employees. The position may work partially remotely until further notice.

Requirements

  • Three or more years of experience supporting AV systems, platforms, and video conferencing in a professional services environment
  • Or any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position
  • Familiarity with audio systems, microphones, projectors, video displays, and streaming technologies
  • Strong troubleshooting and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to lift and move AV equipment and work flexible hours to support events
  • Strong inter-cultural communication skills; maturity, cultural sensitivity, and tact suitable for working with individuals from around the world
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office applications and collaboration platforms
  • Ability to pass the AVIXA-Recognized AV Technologist Test
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams is necessary for this role

  • Experience with Canva, Zoom and Salesforce is helpful

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and break down audiovisual equipment for meetings and live events
  • Operate sound systems; manage microphones, video displays, monitors, recording equipment, mixing consoles, and associated cabling
  • Conduct audio, video, and system performance testing before meetings and events to ensure optimal operation
  • Monitor and troubleshoot AV equipment issues during meetings and events
  • Maintain AV documentation, procedures, standards, and best practices
  • Track, organize, store, and maintain audiovisual equipment inventory
  • Support the technical execution of live, hybrid, and virtual events from setup through completion
  • Operate audio and video mixing systems, cameras, lighting equipment, and recording systems for live productions
  • Assist with managing livestream broadcasts using platforms such as Zoom, Teams, Qlab, restream.io and similar streaming technologies
  • Provide on-site technical support during meetings and events to ensure successful production outcomes
  • Set up and operate professional audio and video systems
  • Support the operation and troubleshooting of enterprise audio and video systems using Q-SYS, Dante, and NDI technologies
  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot PTZ cameras, Mac OS X and Windows based audiovisual systems
  • Assist with microphone placement and audio reinforcement for speakers and presenters.
  • Respond to help desk requests and provide basic technical support for hardware, software, and collaboration technologies
  • Troubleshoot and resolve user issues or escalate them when appropriate
  • Responsible for completing all organizational administrative responsibilities in a timely manner and meeting all organizational administrative deadlines
