About The Position

Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is adding an Audiologist (Per Diem) to the group at NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan. Requirements

  • Minimum of one year of related experience in diagnosing balance disorders.
  • Master’s Degree in Audiology required
  • Current NYS Audiology license.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate Degree preferred.
  • Basic ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Administer a wide variety of audiological tests to determine the patient’s hearing level and most likely site of lesion to the auditory system.
  • Anticipate the degree of social disability due to hearing loss and predict potential benefits to hearing aid use and/or special training. Includes newborn hearing screens.
  • Administer ABR and Video-Nystagmography (VNG)/rotary chair examinations, including detailed questionnaires and a battery of tests to evaluate the auditory and vestibular systems.
  • Read, interpret, prepare, and send tracings to the referring physician.
  • Counsel patients and their families regarding test results and recommendations.
  • Confer with medical staff regarding audiological and vestibular problems and make recommendations regarding appropriate patient referral and management.
  • Prepare reports on diagnostic findings.
  • Ensure reports are distributed appropriately and confidentially as authorized by the patient or the patient’s family.
  • Provide didactic and practical in-service training to otolaryngology residents, medical students, and other hospital staff.
