Vanderbilt University Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated cochlear implant audiologist to join our team. This is a full-time clinical position dedicated to serving patients of all ages with cochlear implants. Vanderbilt Health is seeking a skilled Audiologist with cochlear implant experience to join our nationally recognized hearing and balance team. This unique opportunity allows you to work with both pediatric and adult cochlear implant patients, providing advanced diagnostic audiology, cochlear implant programming, mapping, rehabilitation, and hearing healthcare services while collaborating with leading experts across audiology, otology, speech-language pathology, and rehabilitation. Requirements

  • Doctor of Audiology (AuD)
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A)
  • Eligible for Tennessee Audiology Licensure
  • Experience performing cochlear implant evaluations, programming, and follow-up care
  • Doctorate in Audiology (AuD) from an accredited program
  • ASHA certification (CCC-A)
  • Prior experience working with cochlear implant recipients
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills that lend to working collaboratively on a team.

Nice To Haves

  • One or more years of cochlear implant clinical experience
  • Experience working with Cochlear, MED-EL, and/or Advanced Bionics systems
  • Experience serving pediatric and adult patient populations

Responsibilities

  • Complete cochlear implant candidacy assessments and pre-operative testing
  • Perform initial device activations, cochlear implant programming, mapping, troubleshooting, and long-term cochlear implant management for Cochlear, MED-EL, and Advanced Bionics recipients
  • Conduct comprehensive diagnostic audiologic evaluations
  • Complete hearing aid programming and device management for bimodal users
  • Evaluate and troubleshoot cochlear implant devices, accessories, and assistive listening technology
  • Counsel patients and families regarding hearing loss, device expectations, and auditory rehabilitation
  • Deliver general audiology services as needed
  • Maintain thorough clinical documentation and outcomes reporting
  • Collaborate with otologists, speech-language pathologists, educators, and multidisciplinary care teams
  • Participate in ongoing clinical research as projects arise
  • Support the education and supervision of AuD students, residents, and trainees within Vanderbilt's academic environment
  • Maintain continuing education regarding best practices and advancements in cochlear implant technology
  • Conduct cochlear implant candidacy evaluations, activations, and follow-up mappings according to clinical protocol for patients of all ages for all three FDA approved cochlear implant manufacturers
  • Complete hearing aid programming for bimodal users
  • Complete full diagnostic hearing assessments using appropriate test methods and equipment for patients of all ages
  • Formulate and implement treatment plans to address patient needs
  • Complete documentation in a concise and timely manner
  • Counsel patients, families, and healthcare teams appropriately
  • Engage in clinical teaching of graduate students
  • Create age appropriate recommendations for educational accommodations for children and engage with IEP team as necessary
  • Collaborate with colleagues to foster ongoing improvement within the cochlear implant program as well as efforts to expand reach more patients with cochlear implant technology
