About The Position

PEAKE is seeking a skilled and self-motivated AV Network Installation Technician to join their team, supporting critical government infrastructure at Fort Gordon, GA. This role focuses on the physical buildout of network and audiovisual infrastructure, involving hands-on tasks such as running structured cabling, terminating endpoints, configuring workstations, and setting up/dismantling AV equipment for events. The technician will ensure all connections and systems meet mission standards. This is a field-facing installation role, not a backend administration or software configuration position.

Requirements

  • Active DoW Secret clearance or higher.
  • Direct hands-on experience in cabling, network infrastructure installation, or AV systems installation.
  • Hands-on experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting AV control systems, including Crestron, Extron, and/or AMX platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience with copper (CAT 5/6) and fiber optic cabling—installation, termination, and testing.
  • Familiarity with structured cabling standards and closet hardware installation.
  • Ability to configure networks and perform installation-level troubleshooting to validate connectivity and system performance.
  • Previous team lead duties on relevant installation or infrastructure projects.
  • Physically capable of field work: maneuvering around installation sites and communications closets, prolonged standing, repetitive bending, climbing, and lifting 50 lbs or more.
  • Must be able to work safely in accordance with company safety policies and procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Security+ certification.
  • BICSI Installer/Technician certification or equivalent, proven experience as a fiber optic specialist.
  • Military networking, AV/communications, or SATCOM background.
  • Applicable hardware, software, or AV system certifications commensurate with the technical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Install CAT 6 and Fiber Optic structured cable distribution systems, including pulling cable, fire stopping, cable dressing, and labeling.
  • Terminate various forms of Ethernet and fiber cabling using different methods and connector types.
  • Install closet hardware such as backboards, connecting blocks, racks, patch panels, and fiber enclosures.
  • Test single-mode and multi-mode fiber installations, troubleshoot fiber optic issues, and perform fiber characterization testing.
  • Configure workstations and perform network troubleshooting to ensure installed connections function correctly.
  • Familiarity with DISA installation procedures and operational guidelines (NIPR, SIPR, JWICS, Centrix).
  • Set up, operate, maintain, and dismantle AV equipment including microphones, speakers, cables, sound and mixing boards, video cameras, monitors, and servers.
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and support Crestron, Extron, and AMX AV control systems, including programming updates, touch panels, DSPs, and switchers.
  • Route and terminate AV signal cabling, verifying signal flow and equipment functionality.
  • Troubleshoot AV system issues and validate signal quality, audio clarity, and visual output.
  • Support integration of AV systems with network infrastructure as required.
  • Coordinate with facility stakeholders and team members to execute AV installations.
  • Attend training and safety meetings and adhere to company safety policies.
  • Serve in a team lead capacity as needed, providing guidance and quality oversight to junior technicians.
  • Adapt to varying client environments and technology stacks.
