Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Drama is seeking applicants for a full-time, fixed-term Audio Technician. The position will begin 15 August 2026 and end 31 May 2027. This is a dynamic opportunity for someone who thrives in a creative and fast paced work environment. This person will contribute to the department by providing essential support for physical production and events as well as helping to maintain audio equipment and infrastructure. The work of an Audio Technician often involves a need to work at heights greater than 30’, use of a ladder or personnel lift, the lifting and/or carrying of awkward and/or heavy objects and the manipulation of hand tools and equipment in small or confined spaces for short periods of time. While the ability to perform these tasks is not necessary to fulfill the primary goal of this position, if these scenarios present themselves the Audio Technician will need to be able to find alternative means of completing the tasks involved. Flexibility, excellence, and passion are vital qualities within the School of Drama. Inclusion, collaboration and cultural sensitivity are valued competencies at CMU. Therefore, we are in search of a team member who is able to effectively interact with a varied population of internal and external partners at a high level of integrity. We are looking for someone who shares our values and who will support the mission of the university through their work.
