Audio Engineer IV- #26-23715

US Tech SolutionsRedmond, WA
Onsite

About The Position

This role involves hands-on acoustic measurement in controlled laboratory settings. The engineer will be responsible for evaluating audio and speech quality, automating measurements, analyzing data, and providing feedback to algorithm developers. The position requires a strong understanding of acoustics, signal processing, and various audio testing equipment and software. The work is lab-dependent and requires on-site presence in Redmond, WA.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in acoustics, electrical engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on acoustic measurement experience in controlled laboratory settings.
  • Demonstrated experience with audio signal processing and objective audio/speech quality evaluation.
  • Strong understanding of acoustics, electroacoustic measurement, signal flow, and microphone functionality, selection, and placement.
  • Hands-on fluency with acoustic test equipment and software (e.g. Audio Precision APx, Klippel, Brüel & Kjær, SoundCheck) and with HATS/manikins and artificial ears for on-device and on-ear measurement.
  • Working knowledge of speech-enhancement algorithms — multi-microphone beamforming, adaptive noise cancellation, AGC / dynamic range compression, dereverberation, and ML-based enhancement front-ends.
  • Proficiency in Python or MATLAB for measurement automation, analysis, and reporting.
  • Strong experimental discipline.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Clear technical communication.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior work on multi-microphone speech enhancement for wearable devices.
  • Experience with prototype hardware devices.
  • Experience with designing or commissioning acoustic lab spaces.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality technical reports.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on acoustic measurement in controlled laboratory settings.
  • Evaluate audio and speech quality using objective measures.
  • Automate measurements, analyze data, and generate reports.
  • Interpret algorithm behavior from measurement data and provide actionable feedback to algorithm developers.
  • Define metrics, build experimental setups, run tests, interpret trade-offs, recommend settings, and validate them.
  • Work independently in a lab environment and maintain a daily experimental cadence.
  • Communicate technical findings clearly.
