Audio Editor – Multitrack Dialogue (Remote, Freelance)

HumanSignal•International Falls, MN
•Remote

About The Position

HumanSignal is seeking an Audio Editor to master multitrack recordings from its production studio and deliver them to specification through the company platform. Each session includes a user microphone, an assistant microphone, and four channels from a Zoom field recorder. Most of the work involves individually leveling, reducing noise on, and aligning the four recorder channels to maintain an even mix across the stereo field. The editor will follow a rubric, hand work off to QA, and report recording issues such as camera movement during dialogue or synchronization problems to the production team. This is a hands-on editing role requiring channel-by-channel work in a DAW rather than reliance on one-click AI cleanup tools. The contract is initially 20 to 35 hours per week for two to four weeks, with potential to extend. The role has an immediate start, with group training on Monday, October 27.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in a professional DAW such as Reaper, Pro Tools, Adobe Audition, Logic, or a similar tool.
  • Experience with multitrack dialogue editing and field recorder audio.
  • Strong noise-reduction skills using iZotope RX or a comparable tool.
  • Ability to hear and correct timing and phase issues between channels.
  • Consistency and speed, with the ability to repeatedly meet a quality bar across dozens of files.
  • Availability for full-time hours for at least the next two weeks.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in podcast, film, or broadcast post-production.
  • Experience working to a rubric or client specification at volume.
  • Familiarity with Zoom H-series or F-series recorders.

Responsibilities

  • Master roughly one file per three hours by cleaning, denoising, leveling, and aligning six tracks per session.
  • Apply and adjust processing for each channel and correct timing offsets between channels.
  • Deliver files through the platform in the required format and to the required loudness specification.
  • Follow the QA rubric and incorporate reviewer feedback.
  • Note recurring audio problems so the studio team can address them at the source.
