About The Position

The Office of General Counsel, Penn State Health, provides legal counsel and representation to Penn State Health (PSH) and its affiliates on a broad array of healthcare related matters. This role involves researching the law, providing legal advice, consultation, and representation to PSH and its affiliates. The attorney will advise on, negotiate, draft, edit, review, and execute legal documents including contracts, agreements, memoranda, correspondence, responses, and notices. They will also evaluate claim merit before litigation, assist outside counsel during litigation, and work with General Counsel to define strategies for defending Penn State Health or filing actions on its behalf. Additionally, the attorney will advise when matters require outside counsel retention, and retain and supervise outside counsel, assist in developing institutional policies, procedures, and programs, ensure compliance with laws and regulations, represent the Office of General Counsel on system-wide committees, and keep abreast of changes in the law by reviewing new statutes, regulations, and opinions.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD)
  • 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Licensed Attorney - Pennsylvania Board of Law Examiners
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities
