About The Position

Yavapai County Attorney's Office is hiring prosecutors with varied experience levels, from entry-level to veteran. The office is collegial and paperless, and employees may work remotely from home, full-time in the office, or in a hybrid arrangement. Attorneys receive mentoring without micromanagement and opportunities to conduct jury trials. The role involves criminal prosecution and/or civil litigation on behalf of the county, as well as advising county departments and law enforcement agencies. The position is located in Central Arizona.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the State Bar of Arizona or eligibility for an Arizona Lawyer Apprentice Program (ALAP) license.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Ability to analyze and organize factual information and make persuasive legal arguments.

Responsibilities

• Initiate and engage in criminal prosecution and/or initiate, engage in, and defend civil litigation.
• Investigate and analyze facts, apply legal knowledge, plan trial strategy, consult with parties and expert and lay witnesses, and negotiate and resolve litigation before trial.
• Conduct criminal and civil trials on behalf of the county and represent the county at administrative and other hearings.
• Advise county departments and law enforcement agencies on civil and criminal matters.
• Conduct legal research and draft, review, and prepare legal documents, including motions, petitions, opinions, and demands.
• Draft, review, and prepare appeals and post-conviction relief proceedings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
