About The Position

The position supports the Prosecuting Attorney as well as the Chief of Staff and office staff to internally coordinate employee functions and office operation. It also liaises with the St. Louis County Courts and outside organizations to ensure the efficient and open operation of the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney. The typical starting salary range will be $106,849.60 - $128,211.20 annually depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience as well as budgetary considerations. St. Louis County Government is a qualified agency for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program managed by the Federal Government.

Requirements

  • A Juris Doctor degree from an American law school accredited by the American Bar Association
  • Current licensure as an attorney by the Missouri Bar Association
  • Seven years of related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, review and evaluate legal processes to ensure that all necessary elements required for issuance of criminal charges, warrants, and subpoenas are met.
  • Provide day-to-day legal counsel regarding statutory duties and the appropriateness of methods, procedures, forms and policies used to carry out those duties.
  • Draft legislation for introduction to Missouri General Assembly for the purpose of assisting with the accomplishment of a public mission.
  • Review subordinates' pleadings, discovery, motions and briefs and provide suggestions for improvement as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.
