The North Carolina Department of Justice, led by the Attorney General of North Carolina, represents the state, state agencies, and elected officials, and defends the rights of the people of North Carolina. The Department handles all state criminal appeals cases and assists district attorneys with complex criminal cases at their request. Additionally, the Department of Justice includes the North Carolina State Crime Lab, the North Carolina Justice Academy, and the Sheriffs’ and Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Divisions. Recruitment Range: $76,041 - $90,322 IMPORTANT NOTE: This posting closes at 11:59:59 PM the night BEFORE the End Date listed. The person filling this position will be assigned to the Special Prosecutions and Law Enforcement Section of the North Carolina Department of Justice and physically located at the North Carolina Justice Academy in Edneyville, NC. The person will be responsible for coordinating – and instructing in – advanced and specialized criminal justice training curricula. This person will instruct Law Enforcement Officers on a variety of legal topics including search and seizure and civil liability. This person will also be responsible for reviewing materials created by other academy instructors, most of whom are not attorneys for legal accuracy and clarity. Additionally this person will be responsible for creating and revising legal lesson plans to be delivered to law enforcement statewide. The person will be expected to take on special projects as needed to assist the Academy and the Department of Justice. Finally, the person will be be assigned to the criminal brief rotation of the North Carolina Department of Justice.
