About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Attorney / Associate General Counsel to support healthcare regulation and licensing matters across Tennessee’s rural communities. The attorney will report to a Deputy General Counsel and handle disciplinary cases involving healthcare professionals.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree required.
• Active Tennessee Bar license in good standing required.
• At least 1 year of relevant legal experience preferred.
• Litigation experience with trial experience strongly preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage and prioritize a large caseload.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Willingness to work in the Nashville office weekly.
• TN Bar license number
• Writing sample of no more than 10 pages

Nice To Haves

• Litigation experience with trial experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Represent the department in administrative and healthcare licensing cases.
• Review complaints and investigations involving healthcare licensees.
• Work closely with investigators and licensing board consultants.
• Handle litigation, including discovery, motions, hearings, and trials.
• Manage a high-volume caseload and prioritize multiple matters effectively.
• Negotiate resolutions with licensees when appropriate.
• Assist with legislative projects and bill analysis as assigned.
• Provide legal advice and support on special projects.
