About The Position

High Point University's Workman School of Dental Medicine is seeking a full-time Pediatric Dentist to join their HPU Health- Oral Health Network. This non-tenure track faculty position involves clinical care, education of future dentists, and shaping pediatric protocols across multiple facilities. The role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a new dental school, build a Pediatric Dentistry Residency Program, and address unmet needs for specialized dental care in the Triad region. Requirements

  • DDS or DMD degree (or foreign equivalent).
  • Active full dental licensure in the state of North Carolina (or eligible for North Carolina dental licensure).
  • Completion of a CODA-accredited pediatric dentistry program in the US.
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Pediatric Dentistry.
  • Robust verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional receptiveness and approachability.
  • Poised and professional representation of HPU WSDM.
  • Receptive to feedback, performance improvement, and continuous coaching.
  • Knowledge of HPU WSDM’s core values and mission.
  • Strong ability to articulate operational and analytical data.
  • Clinical documentation, diagnosis, and treatment planning using electronic health records (EHR) such as EPIC systems.

  • 5 years of experience in clinical practice of dentistry.

Responsibilities

  • Serve in clinical and academic roles, educating future dentists.
  • Shape pediatric protocols across facilities.
  • Provide primary and specialty oral health care services.
  • Deliver and teach clinical instruction in pediatric dentistry to predoctoral students and AEGD residents.
  • Play an integral role in designing and launching a Pediatric Dentistry Residency Program, with potential to serve as Program Director.
  • Work alongside top-tier faculty in various dental specialties to provide coordinated care.
  • Champion the CARE model (Compassion, Advocacy, Responsibility, Excellence) in teaching and patient interactions.
  • Implement quality improvement (QI) measures across the Pediatric Dentistry program.
  • Utilize proactive approaches to mitigate errors and conduct root cause analysis.
  • Travel to practice sites to ensure faculty and resident experiences are met.
  • Develop the pediatric dental practice at the Workman School of Dental Medicine (WSDM).
  • Ensure compliance with all standards required by the Commission of Dental Accreditation (CODA), including preparation for internal program audits and compliance of all practice sites.
  • Assist in the development of the pre-doc curriculum, faculty calibration, evidence-based care guidelines, and continuing education.
  • Teach pre-doctoral students in accordance with the needs of the Assistant Dean of Curriculum and Innovation.
  • Create or assist in the foundation of a residency curriculum.
  • Perform all duties directed by the Dean, the Director of Pediatric Dentistry, and the executive leadership team (ELT).
