Requirements

  • Completion of Ontario Secondary School Diploma
  • At least twelve (12) months of related experience in recreation facility, Arena and/or Pool maintenance and operation
  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) from a recognized organization, in good standing, is required
  • Basic Refrigeration
  • Safe Ice Resurfacer Operator from a recognized organization, maintained in good standing, is required
  • Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification, in good standing
  • Working knowledge of refrigeration plant and facility operations, pools, and associated equipment and maintenance procedures
  • Demonstrated customer service and interpersonal skills and ability to deal courteously and effectively with user groups, general public and program participants
  • A valid Class “G” Driver’s License, maintained in good standing
  • A valid, satisfactory police criminal record check to work with the vulnerable sector

Responsibilities

  • Performing routine facility cleaning in all public washrooms, changerooms, and common areas and ensuring facilities are safe and user friendly for patrons.
  • Performing maintenance of ice surfaces such as flooding, edging, painting lines.
  • Operation of an ice resurfacing machine, light motorized vehicles and other related equipment.
  • Perform ice plant and pool readings up to TSSA and Department of Health regulations including maintaining accurate records/logbooks as required to ensure compliance with standards and procedures.
  • Maintaining pool and water filtration system.
  • Perform ice plant and pool readings up to TSSA and Department of Health regulations including keeping a logbook.
  • Set up and/or tear down of facility spaces according to booking schedules.
  • Maintain cleanliness, and safety of exterior areas of the facilities including emptying garbage receptacles, snow removal and salting.
  • Responding to public and staff inquiries, providing assistance.
  • Providing direction, training, and advice to part-time facilities staff.
  • Assisting in other duties as required.
