About The Position

The Attendance Officer is responsible for ensuring student attendance and addressing truancy issues within the school district. This role involves monitoring attendance records, investigating unexcused absences, and working with students, parents, and school staff to improve attendance rates. The Attendance Officer plays a crucial role in supporting student success by ensuring they are present and engaged in their education.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Three (3) years of work history, including periods of unemployment, schooling, and volunteer work, must be completed in the 'Experience and Credentials' section of the application.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and confidential records.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of school district attendance policies and relevant laws.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and school personnel.
  • Proficiency in using computer systems for record-keeping and reporting.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Experience in a school or social services setting.
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish).

Responsibilities

  • Monitor student attendance records and identify patterns of truancy.
  • Investigate unexcused absences and determine the reasons for non-attendance.
  • Contact parents or guardians to discuss attendance issues and develop intervention plans.
  • Collaborate with school counselors, social workers, and administrators to support students with attendance problems.
  • Enforce district attendance policies and relevant state laws.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of attendance and interventions.
  • Prepare reports on attendance trends and intervention outcomes.
  • Conduct home visits or community outreach as necessary to address attendance barriers.
  • Provide guidance and support to school staff on attendance-related matters.
