About The Position

Responsible for overseeing and monitoring students with attendance and enrollment issues. Assists students and families with referral and consultation services.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree
  • 1 to 3 years of work experience
  • Microsoft Office
  • Chancery
  • Office equipment (e.g., computer, copier)

Nice To Haves

  • Equivalent and directly related education and experience, as determined by Human Resources and the hiring manager, may be accepted in lieu of an Associate’s Degree. Equivalent experience is 2 or more years in a related field in addition to the minimum experience requirement of 1 year.

Responsibilities

  • Advises school administration on students' attendance issues that are in violation of the Compulsory School Attendance Laws of Texas.
  • Schedules and conducts home visits to investigate cases of non-attendance, counsels and provides appropriate information and/or referrals to parents, students, school staff members, and community agencies.
  • Conducts daily phone contact with school attendance personnel to report results of investigations and follow-up on specific attendance problems.
  • Documents results of consultation with parents, students, school staff members, and community agencies.
  • Compiles and prepares court cases and represents HISD in court against person(s) having parental control as outlined in Section 4.25 of the Texas Education Code.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
