About The Position

We are seeking a skilled Atlassian Product Owner to own the strategy, configuration, and continuous improvement of our Jira and Confluence platforms. You'll serve as the primary voice of the customer, translating business needs into a prioritized backlog, partnering with stakeholders, and ensuring platforms remain secure, performant, and aligned with organizational workflows. This hands-on role is embedded within a close-knit IT team. Beyond owning the Atlassian portfolio, you'll contribute to broader IT initiatives with structured opportunities to expand into automation, integration development, ITSM, cloud administration, and cybersecurity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Business, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years administering Atlassian Jira and Confluence in an enterprise environment
  • Proficiency configuring Jira workflows, schemes, custom fields, and permissions independently
  • Strong knowledge of JQL and dashboard/report construction
  • Experience with Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) and product ownership
  • Ability to elicit requirements from non-technical stakeholders and create technical specifications
  • Excellent communication skills and documentation abilities
  • Strong analytical skills with bias toward automation and process simplification

  • Atlassian certifications (ACP-100, ACP-120, ACP-600)
  • Product Owner certification (CSPO, PSPO, SAFe POPM)
  • Jira Service Management and ITIL experience; ITIL v4 Foundation a plus
  • Server/Data Center → Cloud migration experience
  • Atlassian REST APIs and scripting (Python, Groovy/ScriptRunner, PowerShell)
  • Familiarity with Bitbucket, Bamboo, Opsgenie, ServiceNow, Azure DevOps, GitHub
  • SSO/SAML, SCIM provisioning, and identity governance knowledge
  • Experience in regulated environments (NIST 800-171, CMMC, FedRAMP, SOX, HIPAA)

Responsibilities

  • Own the product vision, roadmap, and backlog for Jira, Jira Service Management, and Confluence
  • Gather and refine requirements from stakeholders; translate into user stories with acceptance criteria
  • Prioritize enhancements, defects, and technical debt based on business value and organizational strategy
  • Define and report on KPIs including adoption rates, license utilization, and user satisfaction
  • Administer Jira projects, workflows, screens, custom fields, permissions, and notification schemes
  • Build and maintain Confluence spaces, templates, and permission structures supporting knowledge management
  • Develop dashboards, JQL queries, and reports providing actionable visibility
  • Implement Jira automation rules to reduce manual effort and enforce consistency
  • Manage marketplace apps, plugins, and coordinate platform upgrades with minimal disruption
  • Establish governance standards for project creation, workflows, and space architecture to prevent sprawl
  • Manage user provisioning, groups, and role-based access aligned with IAM processes
  • Ensure configuration supports audit, retention, and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain system documentation, runbooks, and configuration change records
  • Act as primary liaison between users, IT, and Atlassian support
  • Facilitate backlog refinement, demos, and stakeholder review sessions
  • Deliver training, office hours, and onboarding materials to drive adoption
  • Provide tier 2/3 support for escalated issues
  • Contribute to IT initiatives including service desk escalations and infrastructure projects
  • Participate in change advisory board reviews and incident response
