About The Position

The Athletics Facilities and Operations Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that all district athletic facilities, venues, and related operations are maintained in a safe, functional, and event-ready condition. This position oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of maintenance, game-day operations, and facility usage to support athletic programs and events across the district. Additional duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Sports Management, Facilities Management, Construction Management, Business Management, or a related field; or possession of a valid trade license (Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, Mechanical, or General Contractor).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of athletic facility operations, event management, grounds maintenance, and building systems.
  • Minimum of 5–10 years of experience in facilities, maintenance, or athletic operations, preferably in a school district or sports environment, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) or similar scheduling/work-order platform.
  • Experience coordinating large-scale events, including athletics competitions, is strongly preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations, maintenance, and readiness of all athletic facilities, including stadiums, fields, gyms, locker rooms, and support spaces.
  • Supervise and coordinate assigned maintenance staff, grounds crews, and event support personnel related to athletic facilities.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate maintenance and repairs to ensure facilities are safe and competition-ready.
  • Manage and prioritize work orders through the CMMS, ensuring timely completion of routine, preventive, and emergency maintenance tasks.
  • Coordinate athletic event operations, including setup, breakdown, security coordination, custodial needs, and equipment readiness.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Athletics Department, school administrators, maintenance teams, and external vendors regarding facility use and operations.
  • Conduct routine inspections of athletic facilities and grounds to ensure compliance with safety standards and quality expectations.
  • Oversee field and grounds maintenance, including turf management, field lining, and seasonal preparation for various sports.
  • Coordinate scheduling and use of athletic facilities for practices, games, and external events.
  • Assist with budgeting, purchasing, and inventory control of athletic facility equipment and supplies.
  • Monitor contractor performance for outsourced services related to athletics facilities and projects.
  • Ensure compliance with district policies, safety regulations, and applicable laws.
  • Support emergency response efforts related to athletic facilities, including weather events or facility damage.
  • Maintain records related to facility usage, maintenance activities, and event operations.
  • Assist in hiring, training, evaluating, and supervising athletics facilities personnel.
  • Attend meetings, training sessions, and professional development related to athletics operations and facilities management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for the supervision, either directly or indirectly, of all Maintenance and Operations skilled and semi-skilled employees.
  • Responsible for planning and scheduling of maintenance activities throughout the District on a daily basis.
  • Processes new work orders through established Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and reviews work requested to establish priorities, (routine, long-range, new construction, or emergency), assigns account charge-numbers and the appropriate system-code for scheduling both routine and preventive maintenance work orders.
  • Plans, programs and schedules all work orders for minor construction, repair, maintenance, and preventive maintenance on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual basis for twelve work centers: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, paint, labor, mechanics, grounds, locks and keys, electronic systems, warehouse, and preventive maintenance.
  • Maintains a daily adjustment of progress and status on projects and work orders that are underway by physical-plant shops and contractors.
  • Submits data for completion of monthly activity reports and conducts a daily work-order-scheduling status-report through utilization of a data input computer.
  • Daily coordinates all man-hours and material availability with maintenance technicians.
  • Works with principals and other school personnel to coordinate maintenance activities with school programs.
  • Inspects school buildings and grounds to ensure that a high standard of workmanship is maintained on in-house projects and contracted services.
