About The Position

Bernard Zell, on the north side of Chicago, is looking for a Part Time Athletics Director and Physical Education teacher to lead the Athletics program at Bernard Zell and teach a couple of sections of Physical Education. The Athletics Director is responsible for being up to date on best practices in Athletics administration. The Athletics Director will oversee and manage employees and budgets within the Athletics program. Part-time - Hours: may vary, but baseline starts at 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. Mon - Thurs; Friday will vary based on teaching assignments and other responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Minimum 2 years of classroom teaching experience required
  • Experience with managing athletics teams
  • Experience with differentiation in the classroom
  • Leadership experience within Athletics programs
  • Proven ability to work as a member of a team
  • Complete Faith’s Law forms
  • Pass a criminal background screening

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a resource for students, teachers, and parents.
  • Assist in the day-to-day operations of the school.
  • Other duties as assigned in support of the greater school community.
  • Communicate with students, parents, staff, and community in a timely manner regarding Athletics programming.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise coaches for Athletics teams
  • Schedule and coordinate practice and game schedules for Athletics teams, in partnership with facilities and operations
  • Host key Athletics events, including: annual track meet, playoffs, student-staff games, Athletics banquet
  • Partner with Athletics Booster Club as Administrative Liaison
  • Develop and maintain Athletics at Bernard Zell
  • Procure and maintain supplies for Athletics teams
  • Assist in the implementation of policies, regulations, guidelines, and procedures pertaining to Athletics.
  • Stay up to date on best practices in Physical Education and Health & Wellness
  • Teach 2 - 6 class periods per week as assigned
  • Communicate with students, parents, and staff in a timely manner regarding student behavior, development, and growth.
