About The Position

The Regis Athletics Department is seeking students to support the Athletics Communications staff with game day and office responsibilities. This role involves tasks such as recording game statistics, operating photo and video cameras, managing live streams (with potential on-air opportunities), creating content for social media and written publications, and performing other assigned duties. Game days are typically held in the evenings and on weekends, and may occasionally fall on holidays. Office hours will be scheduled around the student's academic and athletic commitments.

Requirements

  • Students interested in journalism, social media, broadcasting, graphic design, video creation, marketing, or photography.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adaptable and possess problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to work in poor weather conditions (heat, snow, rain, etc).
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.
  • Must have a work-study award.
  • Must be registered as a student at Regis University.

Nice To Haves

  • Athletics experience not required.
  • Experience with Adobe, Canva, and social media platforms is great, but not required.
  • Willing to train motivated and engaged students.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with gameday statistics, including calling game action and operating official replay.
  • Manage live tweeting updates from the @RegisRangers account.
  • Distribute box scores and statistics to teams and coaches.
  • Operate the live stream computer, update the scoreboard, switch cameras, and run commercials.
  • Show relevant graphics during broadcasts and work with commentators.
  • Operate cameras to capture game action.
  • Potentially serve as on-air talent (play-by-play, color commentary, sideline reporting).
  • Use department cameras to capture in-game action for the website and social media.
  • Set up and break down necessary game day equipment, including goals, chairs, tables, scoreboards, shot clocks, and audio/video equipment.
  • Create graphics and videos for the department website and social media.
  • Assist with athletics media days and headshot days.
  • Write game recaps, special interest stories, and press releases.
  • Attend a mandatory orientation meeting at the beginning of each school year.
  • Report to home matches approximately 1-2 hours before the start for set-up.
  • Work the duration of the event unless otherwise noted.
