About The Position

Provide athletic training support for intercollegiate athletics. This role involves testing, evaluation, assignment for training regimens, treatment of injuries, rehabilitation, and medical referrals. Under physician supervision, the Athletic Trainer works with student athletes to provide care, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and illnesses both on campus and at game venues. The position also includes providing injury prevention measures, collaborating with physical therapists on rehabilitation progress and return-to-play planning, maintaining daily injury reports, and communicating athlete status to team physicians and coaches. The role requires maintaining safety standards, providing first aid, and potentially instructing recreation programs. The Athletic Trainer will work closely with the Head Athletic Trainer to manage and supervise the athletic training program and will act as lead in the Head Athletic Trainer's absence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Athletic Training or other health related (biology, nutrition, physical education).
  • 2+ years athletic trainer experience at the high school or collegiate level.
  • NATA (National Athletic Trainers Association) Certification
  • First Aid and CPR certification
  • AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) Training.
  • Participation in NATA continuing education programs to maintain certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Athletic Training or other health related field.
  • 3+ years athletic trainer experience at the collegiate level.
  • Conduct research or provide instruction on subject matter related to athletic training or sports medicine.
  • Present as subject matter expert at NATA convention.
  • Accompany injured athletes to hospitals.
  • Travel with athletic teams to be available at sporting events.

Responsibilities

  • Provide athletic training services including testing, evaluation, assignment for training regimens, treatment of injuries, rehabilitation and medical referrals.
  • Under the supervision of a physician, works with student athletes to provide care, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and illnesses both on campus and at game venues.
  • Provide injury prevention measures such as appliances, braces and devices for control of joint motion and limb protection.
  • Collaborates with physical therapist regarding rehabilitation progress and return-to-play planning of injured athletes.
  • Provides daily injury reports, and reports status and progress of injured athletes to team physicians and coaches.
  • Maintains established safety standards.
  • Provides first aid support.
  • May instruct recreation programs.
  • Works closely with Head Athletic Trainer to manage, plan, and supervise all aspects of the athletic training program, and acts as lead in the absence of the Head Athletic Trainer.
