About The Position

Atrium Health MSKI Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Lake Norman provides comprehensive, team-based care for orthopedic and sports-related injuries. Athletic trainers collaborate with physicians and rehabilitation specialists to support injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and return-to-play planning for active individuals and athletes. This fast-paced outpatient setting emphasizes evidence-based care, patient education, and high-quality service across a diverse orthopedic population.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED from an accredited institute required.
• Completion of an accredited curriculum established by the National Association of Athletic Trainers (NATA) Board of Certification required.
• Knowledge of the Athletic Training profession as normally acquired through academic experience, clinical affiliations, and/or previous work experience in the field.
• Licensed as an Athletic Trainer.
• NATA Board of Certification/applicable state Athletic Trainers Associations.

Responsibilities

• Provides on-site medical support for local high school and college athletes, YMCA, and recreation departments.
• Refers individuals to the appropriate specialist or General Practitioner when necessary.
• Provides patient education regarding injury prevention, anatomy, body mechanics, and rehabilitation.
• Progresses athletes through rehabilitation protocols and returns them functionally to a state comparable to pre-injury.
