About The Position

The Sports Medicine Associate Athletic Trainer (ATC) & Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) is responsible for marketing and providing athletic training services and/or strength and conditioning services. Athletic training services and/or strength and conditioning services will be provided to schools, athletic programs, community events and individuals. The incumbent will be responsible to perform marketing functions for the Sports Medicine area and will assist management and physicians in identifying current and future needs. Billings Clinic is Montana’s largest health system serving Montana, Wyoming and the western Dakotas. A not-for-profit organization led by a physician CEO, the health system is governed by a board of community members, nurses and physicians. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or equivalent
  • Board of Certification (BOC) Certified
  • National Strength and Condition Association (NSCA) Certified
  • Montana Board of Athletic Trainers Licensure
  • Current Montana drivers license and the ability to be insured to operate Billings Clinic vehicle

Responsibilities

  • Promotes and markets Billings Clinic Sports Medicine Center services within the service region.
  • Develops and maintains effective relationships with current or potential clients, develops data on each, keeps informed on their requirements and provides information on new or enhanced services.
  • Ascertains current and future needs of existing customers to ensure satisfaction with current services. Works collaboratively with Sports Medicine Center staff to resolve issues or concerns. Provides feedback and recommendations to Manager and physicians.
  • Provides athletic training services and/or strength and conditioning services to schools, athletic programs, community events and individuals.
  • Designs and implements performance enhancement and injury prevention programs
  • Administers performance testing to monitor progress and assist in athlete goal setting
  • Determine proper reconditioning programs for injured athletes within established guidelines and in collaboration with the Sports Medicine staff (Athletic Trainers, Physicians, and APPs)
  • Recognizes and evaluates athletic injuries and determines appropriate emergency care for injured athletes; determines appropriate treatment and/or reconditioning programs for injured athletes within the established guidelines and within the scope of practice of individual certifications and competency levels
  • Maintains a record system for all athletic injuries and treatments within the scope of practice for the individual certification level and within Billings Clinic guidelines
  • Collaborate with school administration on weight room design, equipment maintenance and ordering
  • Acts as a resource and liaison for area outreach schools and organizations as availability allows
  • Assists as necessary in the Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Center, including the providers’ office and Rehabilitation Department
  • Identifies needs and sets goals for own growth and development; meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements.
