About The Position

Queens College is seeking an Assistant Athletic Trainer. This is a full-time (12-month) benefit position reporting to the Director of Sports Medicine in the Department of Athletics and Recreation. The successful candidate may attend national and conference meetings and perform other duties assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine. The Queens College Department of Athletics offers varsity, intramural, and recreational athletic opportunities to members of its campus community. The college sponsors 16 varsity sports at the NCAA Division II level, with the QC Knights competing predominantly in the East Coast Conference. Queens College's department of athletics encourages all student-athletes to complete a meaningful academic degree program, participate fully in the college community, and prepare for life after college athletics. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (master’s preferred)
  • BOC certification
  • New York State Licensure (prior to start of employment)
  • Current Professional Rescuer CPR/AED/First Aid certification
  • A valid driver's license
  • Working knowledge of and adherence to NCAA rules and regulations
  • Ability to effectively communicate with and relate to student-athletes, coaches, and athletic staff
  • Ability to use relevant computer software

Responsibilities

  • General healthcare assistance to 230 intercollegiate student-athletes (injury evaluations, referrals, rehabilitative treatments)
  • Provide necessary practice and game coverage for all intercollegiate teams (including travel, late nights, early mornings, weekends, holidays, and during inclement weather)
  • Assist in summer camp coverage
  • Assist with monitoring and maintenance of the athletic training room
  • Provide necessary practice and game coverage for all intercollegiate teams
  • Insurance tracking and documentation
  • Scheduling doctor visits
  • Assisting in the recruitment and scheduling of per diem staffers and sharing medical injuries and recovery plans with Head Coaches
  • Attend national and conference meetings
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine
  • Assist in Summer Camp Coverage
  • Other duties as assigned
