The Athletic Trainer evaluates athletes and sports-related injuries, designs and implements athletic training for rehabilitation and reconditioning, and establishes a care plan to include necessary activities and athlete education as warranted by the athlete's diagnosis and condition. This role involves gathering and interpreting appropriate data, communicating athlete's evaluation and progress to physicians and staff, and coordinating schedules and treatment programs. The Athletic Trainer will document evaluations, tests, progress reports, and treatment notes, re-evaluating athletes as needed and modifying goals and treatment as the athlete's status changes. Responsibilities also include applying strapping, bandaging, or bracing, providing athlete and family education, assisting with orienting new staff, and directing athletic training students and volunteers. The position may require cross-coverage at other facilities and on-site athletic training coverage at sporting events.
