About The Position

The Athletic Trainer will support Waterford High School and the outpatient rehabilitation clinic at Sports Health Southern Lakes. This is a full-time position (1.0 FTE) where the division of hours between the school and clinic will fluctuate depending on the sports season. During off-school times, the focus will be on the clinic.

Requirements

Current Athletic Training certification by the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer (BOC).
Currently licensed or eligible for Athletic Trainer license issued by the state in which the teammate practices within 30 days of hire.
Ability to complete American Heart Association Healthcare Provider (BLS), which includes CPR and AED training within 30 days of hire.
Bachelor's degree in athletic training from a Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) program.
No experience required.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to include communicating with physicians, staff, community partners, and other patients/customers related to sports medicine.
Demonstrated ability to work on a multidisciplinary team in order to effectively treat and understand the needs of the sports medicine patients.
Demonstrated ability to independently make sound decisions regarding problems or operational issues.
Strong writing and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

Conduct assessments of injuries and refer patients to the appropriate healthcare services.
Provide clear communication to patients regarding self-care, prevention, and treatment techniques.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
Establish and execute treatment plans based on patient evaluations and health goals.
Continuously monitor patient progress and adjust treatment as needed to ensure effective outcomes.
Direct athletes in performance enhancement programs for fitness or injury prevention.
Identify and attend to factors affecting the patient’s physical and emotional comfort, ensuring sensitivity to diverse backgrounds and needs.
Plan and facilitate patient discharge by providing at-home care instructions, family education, community referrals, and necessary equipment orders.
Complete all required documentation according to department policies, including patient assessments, progress notes, and billing records, while ensuring compliance with insurance guidelines.
Identify and support opportunities for community outreach to increase awareness of services and health education, fostering partnerships and potential referrals.
Ensure the treatment area is clean and organized, maintain equipment, and adhere to safety standards.
