About The Position

The Athletic Trainer is a member of the Sports Medicine outreach team. In this capacity they have a responsibility to the organizations for the evaluations, treatment, rehabilitation, and medical referral to a consultant. Their primary patients are athletes and individuals associated with athletic programs.

Requirements

• A degree in Athletic Training from an institution accredited by CAATE
• NATA Certified
• Louisiana licensure
• CPR certified
• Current Louisiana Athletic Trainer license
• Annual CEU requirement
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to read, write and speak intelligible English
• Strong quantitative, analytical, and organizational skills
• Ability to communicate orally and in written form
• Must be detail oriented
• Requires emotional stability and maturity
• Must be adaptable to change, be decisive, and demonstrate foresight
• Exhibits organizational and leadership ability
• Must be team oriented with strong interpersonal skills

Nice To Haves

• 1-2 years in athletic training setting preferred

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates proper taping, strapping, bracing, and fitting of athletic equipment.
• Develops training programs and routines designed to improve athletic performance on the play area.
• Ability to accurately evaluate and assess the injury to ensure proper treatment if needed.
• Carries out all prescribed treatments and recommendations by the team/program/event physician.
• Cover assigned pre-season physicals, sports games or matches, and related events under the supervision of the program manager.
• Communicate with parents, athletic coaches, etc., recommendations for handling aspects of care relating to athletic injuries.
