About The Position

This PRN position assists with high school and community event coverage. The Athletic Trainer (LAT) will conduct assessments of injuries, refer patients to appropriate healthcare services, and provide clear communication regarding self-care, prevention, and treatment techniques. They will develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient evaluations and health goals, continuously monitoring progress and adjusting treatment as needed. The role also involves directing athletes in performance enhancement programs, ensuring patient comfort with sensitivity to diverse backgrounds, and planning patient discharge with at-home care instructions and community referrals. Responsibilities include completing all required documentation, supporting community outreach, and maintaining a clean and organized treatment area with proper equipment maintenance and adherence to safety standards.

Requirements

  • Current Athletic Training certification by the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer (BOC).
  • Currently licensed or eligible for Athletic Trainer license issued by the state in which the teammate practices within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to complete American Heart Association Healthcare Provider (BLS), which includes CPR and AED training within 30 days of hire.
  • Bachelor's degree in athletic training from a Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) program.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to include communicating with physicians, staff, community partners, and other patients/customers related to sports medicine.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on a multidisciplinary team in order to effectively treat and understand the needs of the sports medicine patients.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently make sound decisions regarding problems or operational issues.
  • Strong writing and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessments of injuries and refer patients to the appropriate healthcare services.
  • Provide clear communication to patients regarding self-care, prevention, and treatment techniques.

  • Establish and execute treatment plans based on patient evaluations and health goals.
  • Continuously monitor patient progress and adjust treatment as needed to ensure effective outcomes.
  • Direct athletes in performance enhancement programs for fitness or injury prevention.
  • Identify and attend to factors affecting the patient’s physical and emotional comfort, ensuring sensitivity to diverse backgrounds and needs.
  • Plan and facilitate patient discharge by providing at-home care instructions, family education, community referrals, and necessary equipment orders.
  • Complete all required documentation according to department policies, including patient assessments, progress notes, and billing records, while ensuring compliance with insurance guidelines.
  • Identify and support opportunities for community outreach to increase awareness of services and health education, fostering partnerships and potential referrals.
  • Ensure the treatment area is clean and organized, maintain equipment, and adhere to safety standards.
