About The Position

Full-time Athletic Trainer position at a large High School in the Fond du Lac, WI area. This role involves multiple sport sideline coverages, daily training room coverage, and strength camps. The position is part of a multiple trainer site with an excellent team atmosphere and support.

Requirements

• Current Athletic Training certification by the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer (BOC).
• Currently licensed or eligible for Athletic Trainer license issued by the state in which the teammate practices within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to complete American Heart Association Healthcare Provider (BLS), which includes CPR and AED training within 30 days of hire.
• Bachelor's degree in athletic training from a Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) program.
• No experience required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to include communicating with physicians, staff, community partners, and other patients/customers related to sports medicine.
• Demonstrated ability to work on a multidisciplinary team in order to effectively treat and understand the needs of the sports medicine patients.
• Demonstrated ability to independently make sound decisions regarding problems or operational issues.
• Strong writing and organizational skills.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist.
• Lift up to 10 lbs. from waist to overhead.
• Lift and carry up to 40 lbs. at waist height a reasonable distance.
• Must be able to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.
• Perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
• Must have ability to work flexible schedule and in an environment that varies from office to outside temperatures/varying outdoor environments.
• Position requires travel so will be exposed to weather and road conditions.
• Must have functional use of senses to allow effective communication.
• Ability to perform fine manipulation for dressing and massage applications.
• Must frequently walk, assist and lift patient(s) as needed.
• Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
• Exposed to electrical and chemical hazards as well as blood and bodily fluids and is thus required to wear protective apparel as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments of injuries and refer patients to the appropriate healthcare services.
• Provide clear communication to patients regarding self-care, prevention, and treatment techniques.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
• Establish and execute treatment plans based on patient evaluations and health goals.
• Continuously monitor patient progress and adjust treatment as needed to ensure effective outcomes.
• Direct athletes in performance enhancement programs for fitness or injury prevention.
• Identify and attend to factors affecting the patient’s physical and emotional comfort, ensuring sensitivity to diverse backgrounds and needs.
• Plan and facilitate patient discharge by providing at-home care instructions, family education, community referrals, and necessary equipment orders.
• Complete all required documentation according to department policies, including patient assessments, progress notes, and billing records, while ensuring compliance with insurance guidelines.
• Identify and support opportunities for community outreach to increase awareness of services and health education, fostering partnerships and potential referrals.
• Ensure the treatment area is clean and organized, maintain equipment, and adhere to safety standards.
