About The Position

This position operates in a college or professional setting, works independently with an assigned Primary team, while also supporting a Secondary team and the larger Sports Medicine team for all athletes. This position will provide medical coverage, both "on-the-field" and in the training room for injured athletes during practices and events. This position will have variable working hours, unpredictability of schedules, adjusting to match the needs of the partner, including multiple days traveling, weekends, and late nights.

Requirements

  • Two years’ experience working in school/community setting as an Athletic Trainer
  • Current Athletic Trainer license in the states where you work.
  • Credentialed as an Athletic Trainer through the Board of Certification (BOC).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as an Athletic Trainer at a college, university or with a professional team.
  • Master’s degree in Athletic Training or related field.
  • Four years of experience working in school/community setting as an Athletic Trainer
  • Working knowledge of NCAA Independent or Professional League Medical Practice, NATA position statements, EAP for venues.

Responsibilities

  • Understands and complies with NCAA or Professional League regulations/guidelines related to medical care, and to state and federal regulations.
  • Keeps accurate documentation of insurance information of student athletes, evaluations, referrals and treatments administered.
  • Carries out rehabilitation program and protocols independently after athlete or patient has been evaluated and treatment plan has been established.
  • Accountable for all care coordination, medical & rehabilitation navigation for team assignment, until full return to sport.
  • Assesses and administers first-aide to injured athletes during practices and sporting events, making appropriate physician referral when needed.
  • Oversees the operation of the training room ensuring that appropriate levels of supplies are maintained, maximal coverage is provided, and that the training room maintains a professional atmosphere.
  • Communicates effectively with coaches, school administration, parents, athletes, patients, physicians and therapists as well as other sports medicine team members meeting all requirements for daily injury reporting status in compliance with NCAA or Professional League guidelines.
  • Organizes and presents in-services, lectures, coaches conferences, seasonal physicals, sports camps, training, and educational opportunities as appropriate.
  • Ensures that proper return to play criteria is met before allowing participation by athlete or patient, ensuring that the best interest of the athlete or patient is always the priority.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by the manager, including working on projects and committees for conference, league or NCAA.
