About The Position

Brown University Athletics and Recreation is seeking candidates for the Athletic Trainer position. Located in Providence, Rhode Island, and a member of the Ivy League, our intercollegiate athletics program consists of 38 varsity teams with approximately 1,000 athletes who participate within the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA-DI). This role provides medical care and health education to ensure the safety of, reduce the risk of injury to, and guide the rehabilitation of Brown student-athletes under the guidance of the Associate Director of Athletics, Sports Medicine. The position will serve as primary athletic trainer for sports as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • RI Athletic Training License required (to be obtained prior to hire date)
  • Board of Certification “BOC” for athletic training NATABOC Certification, required
  • Maintain BOCNATABOC Certification Continuing Education Units (CEUs) every reporting period, as required
  • A minimum of one year of relevant athletic training experience is required
  • Appropriate Emergency Cardiac Care certification as required by the BOC
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication & computer skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and relate well to students
  • Strong work ethic, passion for the profession and commitment to student-athletes
  • Basic proficiency in excel, word, internet & email capabilities
  • Must receive annual rules education on NCAA legislation related to recruiting by the compliance office and maintain current AED/CPR and First Aid certification.

Nice To Haves

  • A manual therapy certification preferred
  • Experience with electronic medical records system, helpful

Responsibilities

  • Provides medical care and health education to ensure the safety of, reduce the risk of injury to, and guide the rehabilitation of Brown student-athletes.
  • Serves as primary athletic trainer for sports as assigned.
  • Demonstrates exemplary ethical conduct and conformance to NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Performs duties in compliance with all NCAA and Ivy League rules and regulations.
  • Reports any rules violations or knowledge of violations within the division to the appropriate parties.
