About The Position

The Women’s Youth National Team (WYNT) Athletic Trainer works collaboratively and cross-functionally to deliver exceptional care to U20 and U23 players. As a member of the Integrated Performance Support Team, you provide comprehensive health, safety, recovery, and well-being services and solutions to support elite development and peak performance readiness. As a member of the broader Women’s National Team ecosystem, you will play an important role in building a positive environment for all players and staff while contributing to the WNT/WYNT strategy - the Goldprint for Winning, and U.S. Soccer’s Female 360 initiatives.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Athletic Training or dual credentialing as Physical Therapy and Athletic Trainer
  • Current BOC certification and state licensure (or eligibility) in the state of Georgia
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in elite sport (professional, collegiate, or federation) environments, with a minimum of 2 years of experience working with female athletes
  • Strong applied understanding of female- and soccer-specific injuries, and criteria-based return-to-performance processes
  • Strong manual therapy skills
  • Competency in Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook), Electronic Medical Record and Athlete Management Systems
  • Proven success in high pressure environments
  • Exceptional professionalism demonstrated through strong emotional intelligence, ability to read the room, and excellent written and verbal communication
  • Must be able to connect “micro” details to the “macro” vision and mission
  • Willingness to work non-traditional hours- including evenings and weekends- and travel up to 50% time
  • Ability to stand for long durations, bend, lift, squat & carry up to 50 pounds

Nice To Haves

  • Strong understanding of foundational sport science, including soccer-specific periodization and load management principles, and the VALD suite of monitoring tools
  • Prior experience in professional soccer
  • Familiarity with FIFA and US Soccer medical standards
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)

Responsibilities

  • Support the in-camp delivery of athletic training services, including first aid and acute injury management
  • Assist with the development and implementation of individualized prehab, movement, and recovery programs, accounting for positional demands, movement profiles, load tolerance, and individual symptom presentation.
  • Assist with return-to-performance protocols in coordination with technical, performance, and medical staff, ensuring progression reflects validated rehabilitation principles, competition demands, and tournament timelines.
  • Provide on-field and clinical medical coverage for all training, games, and team-related activities, ensuring timely injury recognition, management, and communication within established governance structures.
  • Support mental health guidance and referral, operating within scope of practice and collaborating with designated mental health providers to ensure appropriate escalation and confidentiality.
  • Manage concussion protocols and emergency action plans ensuring alignment with best practice and clear communication pathways.
  • Apply therapeutic and protective taping as needed for practices and competition.
  • Administer therapeutic modalities based on qualifications, evidence-informed practice, and individual treatment needs.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the IPS staff to manage player availability, recovery and game day readiness.
  • Contribute medical insights to structured availability reporting processes to inform training, selection, and competition planning.
  • Maintain audit-ready, confidential medical documentation in accordance with USSF governance standards, ensuring appropriate consent, timely entry, and clear medical-performance data boundaries.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. Soccer and medical standards.
  • Assist with athletic training supplies, equipment inventory, and budgeting.
  • Assist with planning and execution of health & performance assessments.
  • Participate in club communication pre and post camp (where applicable).
  • Coordinate logistics to ensure emergency medical access and response planning during travel.
  • Undertake a progressive and ongoing personal and professional developmental process.
  • Participate in regular performance appraisals to review your development plan and on and off camp progress.
